Ristorante Accademia

A pretty piazza, a beautifully lit church and outstanding food.

Set in one of the prettiest tree lined piazzas in Florence, the Accademia restaurant is right opposite the church of San Marco which is beautifully lit in the evenings. This one room restaurant offers a friendly welcome and the informal, English speaking waiters are suitably attentive not intrusive.

Award winning salumi feature among the antipasti and there are excellent old fashioned primi (try the spaghetti with tiny meatballs of veal). Main courses are of a constantly high standard, including delicious stuffed rabbit, tender veal steak and an outstanding beef fillet with juniper berries.

A blackboard announces the availability of fresh fish and shellfish in addition to the main menu. Alternatively, order the commendable tasting menu and have a different glass of wine included with each course.

The extensive wine list which runs to about two hundred and fifty labels, has been carefully compiled by Gianni, one of the owners, a qualified wine expert.
