On our Chianti wine tour you will enjoy a comprehensive introduction to the region and its local products while visiting two of the area’s best estates. As you sample the signature tipples, you’ll learn about the art of tasting and pairing with food.
Our first stop of the day is at a beautiful winery belonging to one of our prestigious Italian aristocratic families. Here we taste three wines paired with salumi (cured meats) – but first, there’s a fascinating guided tour of the historic cellars and the olive mill, which we will reach through underground tunnels that pass beneath the villa
Now buckle up and get ready for some off-roading through ancient woodlands and rolling hills. Hop aboard ‘the Beast’ and take in the beautiful scenery, from the cypress trees to the rustic farms and churches, as we make our way to Rignana, a typical Tuscan restaurant and winery with stunning views. Get your taste buds ready for lunch of delicious food and red wine (and a blind olive oil tasting). You won’t want to leave!
Try Tuscan specialities with a 3-course lunch
Next we will go deeper into the hills and enjoy more of the incredible countryside on our way to a Chianti Classico vineyard. Lamole di Lamole features two award-winning wines that you will taste paired with cheeses, as you learn about how they were created. This is the penultimate stop on our Chianti wine tour, and you will have ample time to relax and enjoy the lovely afternoon light, which is sure to add to the unforgettable memories you will have created so far
See one of the few existing egg-shaped wooden barrel in the world!
Finally we will stop in Greve, a picturesque town and a highlight of our Chianti wine tour. You will have some free time to wind down and get a coffee, shop or just soak in the unique Italian culture of this idyllic place. You will also have the chance to buy a selection of typical salumi (cured meats) from one of Italy’s most famous butcher shops. Interestingly enough, the store also sells ice cream that incorporates cheeses and meats. Are you brave enough to try some? It’s sure to be a perfectly unique way to end a perfectly unique day, if we do say so ourselves!
