Our Reviews on

Can’t speak highly enough of this tour of beautiful Tuscan towns and countryside with Sara from Walkabout Florence. She is warm, knowledgeable, passionate, local, approachable and witty. Kept our whole family informed and entertained including both my 11 year old and 8 year old. Highly recommend!!!

There are tours and then there is this one. Our guide was Angela (Angie in short), and our driver was Giuseppe. We did this tour on the 20th of April. This was by far the most thoroughly planned and well executed tour I have ever been on. Everything worked like clockwork. It is really amazing how much they are able to fit into a single day tour which spans well over 13 hours in duration. The tour starts from SM Novella, a short walk through the train station complex to the other side where the buses are allowed to approach. As the bus ambles out of Florence, we were pointed out the Ponte Vecchio and some Roman walls, before being allowed to settle with a clearcut briefing (including maps of towns we were going to visit and what are the best features, including pointers forshops such as, for buying Italian confectionery and tasting the world's best Gelato) about what to expect for the rest of the day with great instructions about the intinerary. First stop is Sienna where another local guide accompanied our main guide Angela to give us more indepth insights about this spectacular town. The Duomo di Siena is one of the most extraordinary churches you will ever witness, prepare for a jaw dropping experience with profusion of artwork.....it's like watching 10 art museums in one church. Every square inch of this church is a work of art. Next, we head for the organic farm. During the drive you are shown an entertaining video about Palio di Siena, the insane traditional horse race, followed by a lovely tour of the farm where you get to see Chianti being produced with your own eyes (same is served for the food and wine tasting shortly afterwards). Also, some special variety of cows. The farm is also full of olive trees, artichoke plants and houses an eating area which overlooks San Gimignano across rolling valleys. On a clear day, the view is simply breathtaking. The lunch is super-delicious, authentic and generous. It has to be experienced, can't be described. After that you are taken to San Gimignano where you walk up to the centre of this spectacular medieval town through its awesome main market street, spend some quality time tasting the most delightful gelato. After that you recover the slight fatigue over a 1.5 hours drive to Pisa, crossing some woodlands on the way. During that, you are told about the wealth of things that those woods offer, including fascinating facts about truffles. Before you finish a power nap, you are already in Pisa. Here you are given ample time to go up the tower (if you have booked that) or just hang around. Be careful to not waste too much time taking juxtaposed pictures with the tower, but focus on climbing the tower first, otherwise you could come under pressure for time. Once that climb is out of the way, you will still have ample time to take your pictures, but do the climb first. Finally back to the bus for a smooth ride back to Florence at the same spot. Two things.....in Sienna as well as Pisa, the bus-parks are quite a walk away from the actual attractions, so be prepared to walk a fair bit. Also, by the time you finish Pisa, you may want to take a bathroom break, as that is something not part of the instruction, but a wise thing to do, especially if you have small kids with you. In our case, the duo of Angela and Giuseppe were more than kind to accommodate a need for a 5 minute stop at a petrol station as the child had an emergency, but if only we were better advised, it needn't have been the case. On the whole, a superlative experience, I must say. Angie and Giuseppe made such a wonderful team. What a vivacious and cheerful duo.

This is a great tour that allows you to see a lot of things in a day. Our guide Angela had lots of information on the different sites and about Tuscany in general. Driver Marco did a good job of driving the bus on the small country roads. What a beautiful area. The old towns have so much history and are so beautiful. The lunch was also very good. As a bonus, we had a chance to climb the leaning tower of Pisa. We really enjoyed our day.

This was an outstanding tour. We saw perfect combination of towns and villages and had lovely professional guides. The double decker bus was quite comfortable. We enjoyed meeting people from several countries. This was so much more relaxing than trying to drive and park.

We spent a wonderful day with Elisa who is extremely professional, knowledgable and insightful. This was a special time with our son who is studying abroad. The day gave us time to experience something special together, the tour and lunch at the farm was my personal favorite, tasting wine and enjoying the beautiful scenery was right out of a movie. The stops in Siena and San Gimignano were beautiful and interesting. We did the typical tourist pic holding up the Tower of Pisa, something to see but glad we didn't spend much time there. Overall, an amazing day and highlight of our trip!

We took this tour the day after our arrival from the states. It was perfect because it was all day so we acclimated to the time change yet we did not have to plan a thing! Sara ( no H!) was our guide, Giuseppe our driver. I have been to all of the towns before but it was the first time for my son. It was SO worth the money spent! Sara was so kind and knowledgeable with her masters in art history. At first I was worried because we were on a big bus with a lot of others, but the bus was very comfortable and all of the other people were so nice, and when we took the guided tour of Siena we had headsets so it was perfect! The lunch at the winery was wonderful and San Gimignano was perfect. We were so well cared for - this is a must do tour and I will recommend this to anyone who wants to see it all without the craziness of driving and worse parking! Grazie per tutti!

I was extremely happy with this day trip. The cost was well worth the tour! Olivia did not miss anything! She was very informative about everything we saw. Lunch was good as well. The servers were friendly and we had plenty of food. Highlight was seeing the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

We opted to take a quick one day tour as the weather was going to be raining and figured we could escape the rain on the bus while going from place to place. The tour worked out great. Alex was our tour guide he truly loves his job. Knowledgeable about Tuscan history and the countryside, he is extremely proud of his country. Siena was wonderful, her us a picture of the local guide in action. She did a great job explaining her city. Lunch at the winery was a great break. Off to San Gimignano a great town well preserved. Then to Pisa and home. Great day with great sights and a lot of local knowledge. 10 all the away around.
