Italy is a picture-perfect destination, ideal for all kinds of traveller from nature lovers to foodies to history buffs. Wherever your interests lie, finding opportunity for adventure while in Italy is not a challenge, but seeing all the very best vistas while you’re at it – that’s a little trickier.
Tuscany destinations are full of surprises, and while you may think you’re looking out onto the best views the region has to offer, without a guide’s expertise you can never be too sure that you aren’t missing something unmissable. This of course, is exactly why we put together our fantastic tours. If you want to make sure you’re seeing the absolute cream of the crop when it comes to Tuscany destinations, we have your back. Here are the most photogenic sights you’ll be guaranteed to witness on some of our group tours.
The Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore (otherwise known as the Duomo) is located in the Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral Square), and will without a doubt be one of the most impressive buildings you’ll see during your trip to Italy. The main structure of the cathedral was built at the end of the thirteenth century, but it was not until the fifteenth century that it was finished and the magnificent dome was added. This striking dome was designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, and to this day remains the biggest of its kind to be built out of bricks and masonry. Pretty impressive, right?
When visiting this magnificent building, it’s advised that you wear comfortable shoes – you have 463 steps to conquer before you reach the top of the dome! Once you’ve finished hyperventilating and wiping the sweat from your brow, you’ll finally be able to appreciate the views – and they’re more than worth the climb.
Giotto’s Bell Tower
One of the reasons why Florence is one of the best Tuscany destinations is because it offers so much in one space – namely, the main Cathedral Square. Not only will you have the chance to see the views from the beautiful cathedral, but you can also explore the nearby museum, the Baptistery and of course, Giotto’s famous Bell Tower where more unforgettable views await.
The beautiful tower offers impressive panoramas over Florence, but there’s still a tough climb to undergo before you can enjoy them! While exploring the building, you can admire the relief carvings which are said to narrate the ‘Creation of Man’ as well as the 16 life-size statues and other great masterpieces. Giotto’s Bell Tower is definitely worth a visit if you’re an art fanatic!
Rent the Walkabout Florence Guide that includes tickets to both the Siena and Florence cathedrals and explore the region’s highlights in even greater detail. This package also includes entry to all the other impressive buildings around Piazza del Duomo in Florence so that you can explore at your own pace.
The Leaning Tower of Pisa
Also featured in our Tuscany in One Day Sightseeing Tour, the Leaning Tower of Pisa promises to be a real highlight of your visit (based on the reviews from our recent guests, anyway).
While you’ll probably want to spend most of your time posing for the classic ‘pushing the tower’ photo, we also recommend taking the time to admire the incredible architecture – after all, there’s no building quite like this anywhere else in the world. Of course, you will also have the opportunity to climb the famous structure and take in the gorgeous scenery from the very top. Don’t be alarmed when you notice the building’s slant even from these heights!
“I was extremely happy with this day trip. The cost was well worth the tour! Olivia did not miss anything! She was very informative about everything we saw. Lunch was good as well. The servers were friendly and we had plenty of food. Highlight was seeing the Leaning Tower of Pisa.”

Vernazza and Doria Castle
Many Tuscany destinations are abundant with beautiful flora and fauna, but it’s hard to rival the Cinque Terre, a string of quaint villages on the coastline. Our one-day hike takes you to some of the area’s most enchanting vistas, so photo opportunities are around every corner.
One of the prettiest towns you’ll come across on the hike is Vernazza, with colourful buildings, historical landmarks and of course, some breath-taking views of the coast. There are plenty of quaint bars and cafes around the town if you need a little pick-me-up, but if you prefer to make the most of the area you can head up the hill and admire the ancient Doria Castle – you’ll be able to enjoy some great views from this spot, too.
Tuscany destinations such as Cinque Terre, Pisa and Siena are ideal for those who want to appreciate the beauty of Italy from the heights of some of its most historic and well-known attractions. Many of our tours offer explorations of these beautiful places, so if you’d like to find out more please get in touch with us via our website and we’ll help you make your getaway dreams come true!
