Lactose Intolerant - Where to eat Gelato?
I'm lactose intolerant but really want to try some good gelato while I'm in Florence this summer. Any suggestions on places that cater for people like me? Thanks!
In any of the really good gelaterie (gelato shops) in Florence, you will find a selection of fruit-based sorbets that are often made with no milk, but there is usually also at least one or two options of other flavours made either with soy milk (soya, in italian), which you can find in flavours such as vanilla or hazlenut (nocciola), or flavours made with no milk at all (senza latte), such as very indulgent pure chocolate gelato!
Try Grom in via delle Oche, Perchè No in via Tavolini, Carabè in via Ricasoli and Gelateria dei Neri in via dei Neri, all in the historical centre of Florence, for some of these great lactose-free options.
