How do I find my train?
We already have our train tickets booked for Rome from Florence (it's a "frecciarossa" train). How do we find out which is our train, is it difficult to work out the track numbers?
Florence's station is relatively small with all the tracks clearly seen and no need to do any stairs (if you have luggage). There are information boards in the station at the beginning of each track and in the ticket hall, for departures look at the “partenze” board and for arrivals look at the “arrivi” board.
The city displayed will be the final destination city, so if you are getting off at any other point of the train journey, look at the exact time of your departure to find the corresponding track number (binario, usually shortened to just “bin”), which is often not displayed until moments before the train arrives or departs.
If the information board displays 'rit' followed by a number, it means the number of minutes that the train is delayed (in ritardo). There are usually also announcements in English at main stations.
