Female Traveling solo - where to eat?
I'm a 40s something woman traveling on my own in Florence this summer, any suggestions on places to eat or cafes where I can feel comfortable sitting by myself? Is it safe to walk around at night alone?
Florence is a safe city, and in general lone women will be treated very well in Italy (you might even get a little extra attention, but not in an uncomfortable way!).
Some great places for not feeling uncomfortable being alone are Pitti Gola or Le Volpi e l'Uva for a glass of wine, or perch yourself in one of the historic cafes in Piazza Repubblica for a bit of people watching (standing if you want to be like the locals, or sitting at a table -for an extra fee).
For meals, try Trattoria Mario for lunch (communal tables so you may make some new friends!) or a place where you can get a quick bite like Cernacchino (you also share tables here). For dinner, friendly family run places like Casalinga or del Fagioli are good options too.
